The Noon Rotary Club is helping the community by bringing six items to each meeting as a make-up for missing a meeting. These are items needed by our local charitable organizations especially the food pantries. Not only did the Noon Rotary Club bring items to present to our speaker of the day, Jeff Newton from Kokomo Urban Outreach, a challenge was presented. Jan Hinkle challenged each Rotary member to match her $10 donation and with 11 matches we could pay for a Buddy Bag of weekend lunches for one child for the entire school year. A bag of groceries is given to elementary students on Friday to help them eat on the weekend. A Buddy Bag will usually contain enough food for six meals. Presently Kokomo Urban Outreach serves 270 children per week. From this challenge, $1,630 was presented to Jeff Newton from the Noon Rotary donations at the noon meeting. This money was presented to the Kokomo Urban Outreach for the Buddy Bag program. Rotary is dedicated to serving our community and every week we're collecting items to be delivered to the charitable organizations to distribute as needed in our community.
